@humptydumpty yeah, I suspect it's roundcube hiding the To address for some reason. Maybe worth reporting upstream with the full email headers.

This indicates nginx (the reverse proxy in front of all apps) had some trouble reloading and not roundcube itself crashing. Roundcube itseful internally uses php/apache. Did you see anything else in the nginx logs around this?

Sorry for the delay in response. Yes, this functioned as needed! Thank you, Sir @girish. Admittedly it took quite some time for me to get the time needed to sit down and "from scratch" it, so to speak. In the end, I'm likely going to make use of NextCloud's Email Client since internally we took a vote. NextCloud's email combined with that Calendar won out (despite my personal feelings regarding the added maintenance (black box-ish-ness) complexity and the "speed" (or lack there of) of their client).

Girish, thank you. In the end, your advice was solid. Entirely worked as needed. And it was only then that we, as a company, could make a final call to go a different direction for an email client.

Interestingly, none of the "keyboard_shortcuts" plugins (see https://github.com/corbosman/keyboard_shortcuts/network/members) work anymore. All other plugins are fine - but if I activate this one, Roundcube doesn't load anymore.

I had last used https://github.com/texxasrulez/roundcube-plugin-keyboard_shortcuts

EDIT: https://github.com/random-cuber/hotkeys doesn't work either.

@girish Indeed, it's the CardDav plugin (https://github.com/mstilkerich/rcmcarddav) - which is a real problem because what good is an email client without an address book?
It shows again to avoid apps that rely too much on a plugin system (i.e. Nextcloud). Core functionalities need to be built in and supported.

EDIT: I had installed the plugin by pulling the current repo to the plugins folder - looks like this does not work anymore. Manually installing the CardDav plugin via the release tarball works.
This is solved.

Just rewording the docs a bit. But what it's trying to say is:

Per https://plugins.roundcube.net/#/ , it says to install plugins by editing composer.json. This won't work because composer.json is readonly in Cloudron package.

Plugins have dependencies listed in their own composer.json . So the installation instructions are to install the deps of plugins (when installing plugin from source).

@jdaviescoates Yes, correct. The symlinks are probably stale. You can remove them and restart the app, they will get recreated as needed.

@humptydumpty sounds reasonable. "Send copy to" using SRS could fail depending on SMTP features and "forward to" (not using SRS?) should work. I don't think its an real issue but I also did not find any helpful documentation regarding Cloudron and this constelation. Also bad UX in the end ^^

@girish if it’s about completely blocking any outside email communication then blocking outbound communication on port 25 is a way the achieve this. This way every mail directed to an outside server would eventually result in a non delivery as the destination cannot be connected.

@jdaviescoates I put the docs in https://docs.cloudron.io/apps/roundcube/#upload-size . I think adjusting $config['max_message_size'] = '100M'; takes it over 75M . Note that roundcube uses 1/3 of the size here for attachments (the rest is for the message body itself). So, maybe make it like 150MB or something.

Even the current forked version of the identity_smtp plugin (https://github.com/CocytusServices/Roundcube-Identity-SMTP forked from https://github.com/deflomu/Roundcube-SMTP-per-Identity-Plugin) has a bug.
