If you're as lazy as I am, here is the summary of the brilliant insights from this thread: Enable 'json' in SearXNG (will not make the search interface public): Open settings.yml for editing, e.g. via File Manager Add json in search under formats Example: formats: - html - json <-- add this Note the Port in of SearXNG Configure OpenWebUI App to use SearXNG as web search: In OpenWebUI, go to Admin Settings → Web Search Enter URL: Paste the Searxng URL but replace and (App id to be found from cloudron dashboard; port as noted above, default port is probably 8888. ) http://:/search?q=&language=auto&time_range=&safesearch=0&categories=social+media,map,it,general,science,news&format=json This bypasses OAuth internally so that OpenWebUI directly accesses SearXNG

OK, I have put a reminder for ourselves via a cron pattern for twice a month. In any case wants something like this, put this into the cron section of the app: 0 7 1,15 * * "==> Sending reminder to update apps" && swaks --server "${CLOUDRON_MAIL_SMTP_SERVER}" -p "${CLOUDRON_MAIL_SMTP_PORT}" --from "${CLOUDRON_MAIL_FROM}" --h-Subject "Check if SearXNG needs to be updated" --auth-user "${CLOUDRON_MAIL_SMTP_USERNAME}" --auth-password "${CLOUDRON_MAIL_SMTP_PASSWORD}" --to notification@domain.com --body "This is cron reminder to update SearXNG package if needed" --silent 2

I was looking if someone, somehow Cloudron implemented Filtron and apparently not it would be nice to have this, even as a sidekick instance. Otherwise for now; I limit the query via Cloudflare with their ZeroTrust service [image: 1720177308337-screen-shot-2024-07-05-at-07.01.28-resized.png]

Anyone else having trouble with searx not really working lately?

That begs the question, is there a self-hosted front end where you specify the backend search engines to use to get results and the frontend displays them for you as a proxy?

I think this can be marked as solved... Since the reinstall back in Feb I've since been using my searx instance as my primary search on both my laptop and mobile, however, it's largely stopped working in recent days
