@jdaviescoates I launch a teleconference to find the bottom bar, and then click on the hamburger buttons at the bottom right to reveal the menu. If you don't have the same options in the menu, maybe you are on a different version. This is Jitsi 2.0.7882. However, I imagine you have the same version, and that is why you are asking, in which case, I don't know.

@whitespace I see that earlier in the thread you said you had no backups. But just wanted to double check, if you had any (even ancient ones) ? The reason is config.php has passwordsalt and secret which is what is used to hash the db entries. https://github.com/nextcloud/server/issues/34780 has some suggestions which may or may not work .

As for your question, not a nextcloud expert, but if I had to guess user settings and password will be reset since the data files is only the files.

Setting up the sieve rule means I have to have the password and set all of that up.

Using the "mailing list" settings means I don't have to do any of that, don't need to create an inbox, and it doesn't need to be owned by any accounts (and cloudron users with email admin / admin / superadmin can modify as needed).

So I guess I answered my own question ๐Ÿ™‚ I'll write it up. for people who ask in the future. "How do I set up email forwarding to external accounts without having to provision Cloudron accounts" == mailing list.

@luckow thanks for the SoGo -- looks like that does take care of everything.

@girish said in All previous folders and files have disappeared after migrating Nextcloud to a different Cloudron server:

@jdaviescoates that makes sense. So, I recommend one of these:

This depends on how much you use nextcloud. Just setup a fresh nextcloud and import things over from your previous install. Most things have import/export . For files, since you already installed a broken one, it already has the files. Just cp over all your files from broken install to the fresh one. After you copy files, https://docs.cloudron.io/apps/nextcloud/#rescan-files in web terminal. Note that you will have to also re-share stuff if you use that feature.

OK, I might do that. Thankfully the two instances of Nextcloud I need to migrate aren't very large nor very actively used.

Alternately, you have to wait for us to investigate if the situation has changed wrt migrating users from uid based installations .

That'd be great. Ideally Nextcloud on Cloudron would be properly portable like most other apps seem to be.

For now I'm just going to do nothing and leave the Nexcloud apps where there are (but do really want to move them so I can save money by cancelling the VPS servers they are currently on)

@girish said in Social Well Known:

I tested this out quickly. Indeed, the app auto creates an id of the form @nc.domain.com . After domain change, it doesn't adapt. But I don't think this is a bug in the app. Most of the federated apps (even outside nextcloud) cannot change their domain post installation.

    image.png

    I thought the same!

It seems to be a bit of a bugger that, on the other hand, I located the folder for well-known but nowhere does it show the URL in the files in the well-known folder for the app.

I have messaged the developer of the app to see if they could put in the description to only install on a URL that will not change or find a way around it but I don't think the developers of federated apps have it high on their priority to make domain name changes possible.

    @marcusquinn Thanks.

In the recent Hub5 presentation, NextCloud's CEO showed clear commitment to data sovereignty for users. I think it is great how Nextcloud could as easily help individuals and families as much as businesses.

@jagan And I restarted the whole cloudron server and lo and behold, the app came back online.
I was watching the logs, it sputtered and crackled, but in the end, came through.
Thank you Cloudron for all this magic.

This topic can be marked as closed. I decided to buy an instance with more memory and it worked well.

@LoudLemur I use cryptomator to encrypt sensitive files that I have on my nextcloud. Your use case is a bit trickier as you have multiple people working on the same file simultaneously. Take a look at the existing apps in the App Store like collabora, onlyoffice, and cryptpad. Cryptpad might be your best option though as itโ€™s end to end encrypted.

Edit: Thereโ€™s also baserow and noco. Iโ€™m not sure if the databases are encrypted.

To get this working, you have to login to the collabora app on your Cloudron (we have added a small config UI for that purpose) and then configure which origins can connect: https://docs.cloudron.io/apps/collabora/

@3246 said in [๐Ÿ’ก Guide] How to install Cloudron/Nextcloud with LUKS full disk encryption on Hetzner cloud server:

@Stardenver yes it is. I also have it running on baremetal at home/office.

My new set up has a main drive that's encrypted and another for local backups, which is also encrypted but unlocks after decrypting the main boot/data drive.

Happy to expand on this if folks find it useful ๐Ÿ™‚

Thanks again for your setup guide. Just got a new server and its up and running. May I ask how you'd setup your system, so that additional drives are also encrypted and unlock after decrypting the main drive?

Thank you for your help with this, though.

Also, the reason for nextcloud update is that it has some slightly tricky optimization to change ownership of files carefully. It also changes the default data directory of newer nextcloud installations.

@LoudLemur looks like the DNS record was pointing to a Cloudron which didn't have any app installed on that (sub)domain. If a Cloudron server as such just gets deleted, then the DNS records are not automatically cleaned up, since there is nothing running anymore to do that.
