<![CDATA[What's coming in Cloudron 9]]>
  • Deprecate Ubuntu 20.04 support - we won't remove support yet, but you will get a notification that support is going away soon. I think Jul 2025 is when Ubuntu 20.04 reaches EOL.
  • UI Redesign - this is a biggie and requires much work. We already started migrating to vuejs 3 months ago. We will also take this opportunity to fix the navigation in our UI. Currently, the whole navigation is crammed under the profile menu.
  • App Level (Disk) Storage Limit - This will let you size the maximum disk storage an app can use. Currently, the plan is to add support for XFS Project Quota (supported on all the cloud block storage devices) and also a loopback device based backend. Maybe in future, we will add a LVM based backend as well.
  • Backup integrity - store size and checksum of backups. Also provide a way to "verify" backup integrity in the remote.
  • Show backup/restore progress
  • Multiple Backup Destinations

    I have also witnessed the automatic update to from v8 to v9. However, this was on only my unlicensed/free Cloudron servers. All licensed ones were waiting on manual trigger (probably because v9 is still officially not released), which once triggered went smoothly.

    The backups had stopped working. I had to remount the sshfs thing (by chance there's an ui action to do that) and it worked again.
    Overall the ui is better, especially the admin part. I note I can't access to the old notifications though (they were always available with v8 I think).

    Fixed with https://git.cloudron.io/platform/box/-/commit/5160f22d912d7524fff068dcc6efecf818b4f087 to limit the sidebar width to max 300px as some compromise to still display large names (though the are limited to 64 characters anyways, but lots of w will be clipped now)

Everything (only ten apps; four users) went smoothly and well.

    At the moment the release is only available for those but will not auto-update yet.

After server reboot I could finish the „activation“ - app was in error mode. Unfortunately forgot to copy the logs for here….
    Now everything works fine (~20 apps)
