I have a VPS with 1 TB of storage and a second 2 TB hard drive dedicated to backups.

My apps actually require about 480 GB of storage. Two days ago, I received a notification that I was running out of space. I checked Cloudron and saw that 800 GB was already in use; a day later, that figure had risen to 1 TB.

Cloudron has also been reporting repeated backup failures for the past week.
However, I have no idea why this is happening.

Where should I start looking?

The
/var/backups
directory contains several files. Shouldn't that directory be empty if I'm using a separate hard drive specifically for backups?

Please include the output of the
cloudron-support --troubleshoot
command.
Also, please share a screenshot of your backup configuration.

The
/var/backups
folder is also used by Ubuntu itself so it is expected to contain files.
You can run
du -hd 1 /var/backups
to check the size of that folder. It should not be bigger then ~1-2GB when no Cloudron backups are stored there.
