However since we cannot lock down specific versions anyways since by design everytime the valheim server restarts, it checks and may or may not update itself, we can also not really release new package versions on our side as they become meaningless. The whole valheim server/client contract seems to be evergreen.

So essentially as soon as the game client reports old server version, just restart that valheim app on your cloudron and it should be on latest again.

Thanks!

I'd not have guessed that the update would happen without a version-update on the pod.

So when there's an update how does the pull-process work? Is it instantly whenever the update rolls out on steam?

So I guess it makes sense to just have a routine-reboot scheduled every night in order to make sure that you're up-to date since game-updates don't automatically trigger a cloudron-app-update that's resulting in a reboot?

Would it be possible to increase the version-number of the cloudron-app whenever there's an update of the game even if the container itself didn't change? Or is there a smarter way that doesn't require either scheduled or manual restarts

An app update should not be needed.
You should only need to restart the app and the latest server version will be installed.

I have just tested this.
Installed the @<bdi>valheim</bdi> app and the latest version of Valheim (which is 1.0.15 n-40 as I can tell from the ingame screen) from steam and was able to connect without any issues.
