HI all, I really want to us the Sogo web interface over rainloop. But I can't figure out how to add email aliases in Sogo so I can send from them. Is there anyway to do this like you can in Rainloop? I have my email aliases set up in the email admin area in cloudron, I just need to add them in Sogo so I can send from them. Thanks for the help!

Unfortunately SOGo does not support this feature, as far as I am aware.

@nebulon ok thanks for the reply. I didn't think so but wanted to check. Would be cool if somehow the aliases you added in cloudron admin area show up as a from address automatically in sogo. Thanks again.

Is there a specific reason that external IMAP accounts are not enabled in Sogo?

Not 100% sure but I think there was a limitation in SOGo that multiple IMAP servers does not work properly when using LDAP authentication. I don't know if this limitation is gone now over the year(s). @nebulon might know.

Apologies for adding to an old thread. I played with email and SOGo for a bit now and found the following works well for aliases:

    • Create aliases in the Email config in Cloudron
    • Login to SOGo with the user account that has access
    • In SOGo go to settings -> mail -> IMAP and add an account for the alias
    • Save and go to mail, note the alias mailbox showing in the left menu
    • Click on the alias mailbox and write a new email message
    • Note the alias is showing in SOGo's composer OK and let's you send messages

The settings I copied from the main account, which is also showing in IMAP accounts. Note that the mail server name and port are different to what you'd expect! (mail, 9993)

You can just add an alias to other IMAP email clients (e.g. Spike, mail.app, Thunderbird) and do not need to add a mailbox besides the main one.

Setting up delegation also works but won't show aliases (there's a ticket logged for this - thanks @girish) https://git.cloudron.io/cloudron/sogo-app/-/issues/18

Let me know what you make of this and how you are using aliases 🙂

@3246 There was a bug in the ldap code. See the fix in https://forum.cloudron.io/topic/2733/aliases-seem-misconfigured-in-sogo/4
