I haven't needed to or thought about logging directly into the server via ssh for years... initially I did as I had to set up cloudflare tunnels and installed the cloudron, then set up the disk mounts and some real basic stuff. After that I have always just used the cloudron web interface to manage everything and that works great...
I now want to ssh into the server (to check out the status of a previously mounted portable drive I want to use as a volume, and update the cloudflare tunnel script which is way out of date)..
It has been a while, 3 years since installing it, and I can't seem to find my root admin password for the server as I usually do everything from the cloudron web interface which I still have my admin login for, and which is usually all I need to log in to.

Are my cloudron users also users on that server, i.e. Are my cloudron admins also server admins, are they able to login directly to that server by default or not?

i.e. I am using a command line such as "ssh username@192.168.1.10" ( the server's IP address) from a terminal on the local network, ssh seems to connect but I keep getting rejected as passwords are not being accepted...
If not I think I have lost my root admin password for the server, rooky mistake, yeah pretty sure I have lost/forgotten it!!!
If that is the case, then what should I do if that is the case, if I am now locked out of the server..., just keep making backups via the web interface until my server eventually dies and then load those backups straight into a new cloudron server that I should make on a new machine when the old machine finally dies?
Any help is appreciated, was surprised when I realised I hadn't seemed to have saved the server admin pasword in my password manager app!!!
Roughly, the idea is to boot from a flash drive. Then, identify your root disk and put your ssh keys in <mount>/root/.ssh/authorized_keys . Reboot, that's it!

This is not really a support topic regarding Cloudron more so generic Linux hosting administration support.
I have moved to the topic to the @<bdi>help-wanted-or-offered</bdi> category.
But I'll provide some assistance nonetheless.

No. Cloudron users are not Linux users on the server itself.

Restoring root access on a system you have lost all access to is possible, but needs some manual work.
Here is a good guide from the Ubuntu discourse: https://discourse.ubuntu.com/t/how-to-reset-ubuntu-server-password-using-live-cd-in-bare-metal-or-hypervisor/55745
