<![CDATA[PTR settings incorrect after switching VPS provider]]>I switched hosting of my VPS from DigitalOcean to Google and now my PTR record is incorrect. Any tips on how to correct this?

I've since changed to Linode and have the same problem. Does the same solution apply as GCE? Set up a relay?

But if you don't care about that, you can ignore the PTR warning.

All I currently have is a simple HTML website and Nextcloud running for calendars and contacts, so I probably don't even need to the server to send email, right? In which case I just ignore the PTR warning.

They block outbound port 25. See https://cloud.google.com/compute/docs/tutorials/sending-mail/ . This means you have to set a mail relay for the server to send email. When you set an email relay, the PTR setup is not required.

So, the correct fix for your problem is to setup a relay and ignore the PTR warning for now.

It is set by your hosting provider. Most of them have an option in their admin interface to set it manually to whatever you want. Some don't. You should go look into the admin interface there !
