Display something similar to the info in the logs from apphealthmonitor where one can tell how many apps are running how many aren't out of how many total.

Once one installs 20+ apps, it's a lot of scrolling and squinting to make sure they're all up and didn't fail an update or some other silly thing that needs a few clicks.

Since I can't seem to upload an image mockup, it looks like this:

    My Apps 45 ( 44 / 1 ) [ search apps ] [ tags ]

45 = Total apps (same color as My Apps text)
44 = Total running in green
    1 = Total stopped/down/error in red

Let the numbers be clickable as tags so one can quickly find the error apps for example.

Love this suggestion and itโ€™s not a hard change either.

I like the idea, I've added this now to the dashboard and thus it is part of the next release ๐Ÿ™‚

So far very simplistic and looks like this, it will be shown similar to the search field, once more than 8 apps are installed:

@nebulon Did you just already implement an idea someone had on this forum 8 hours ago? As if I didnโ€™t already love this community enough; you guys are great!

It was a very simple task though ๐Ÿ˜‰

@nebulon Well yes, but even as simple a task as this is unheard of in other communities to be implemented in hours. Iโ€™ve never seen such quick and responsive developers ((like how @girish is helping me with connecting the network of the app containers). Itโ€™s just really inspiring.

Quick question tho, is it just you two developing Cloudron? Or is it just that you two the only ones active in the forums?

@nebulon That's absolutely amazing what the two of you have created. Like, seriously, this is fantastic. I haven't been this excited about development in a lonk time (if you couldn't tell from my over-zealousness in the forums, I forgot how much I enjoy development).

    It really is!

And just imagine if Cloudron was fully open source again like it used to be!

IMHO there are so many reasons why that would be great, and AFAICT no good reasons for not doing it! ๐Ÿ˜„

@nebulon @girish great work! Can I take life insurance out on you both? ๐Ÿ˜‚

@jdaviescoates As I understand it, and I haven't dug too much, the source-code is included and not obfuscated on each install, so could live on in any unfortunate event โ€” but ultimately the life-blood is a business model that pays more than it costs to support. So, I'm focusing on the how to get more paying subscribers side.

I can see both sides of that coin as currently almost everyone here is paying, I wouldn't want to share their time too much with a deluge of unpaid support requests distracting from development.

Owner-founder-developer models I have to respect as I run a similar business, clients can see the source if they really want, most don't, and the ones that do tend to be baking their own solutions anyway.

Yeah, I was disappointed that I couldn't get a dropdown box into app containers (for connecting their networks together on demand) via the current model and figured I'd have to wait for @girish to finish the feature.

BUT if when fully installed it let's us browse the code non-obfuscated then I can do so locally. This should be more common knowledge. I thought I was locked out of contributing the proprietary parts of the app. I hope the developers keep the code non-obfuscated so we can continue it's development if they no longer can and so we can help contribute to Cloudron as a whole. Albeit, a little more difficult because I won't be able to do a merge request with non-open-source code so I'll just have to send it to @girish directly.

I've taken this off-topic (sorry!), but I think you could actually do merge requests by joining https://git.cloudron.io/ and submitting them there ๐Ÿ™‚

Although, of course many people are more reluctant to freely contribute to non open source projects (as some have highlighted in the thread I linked to).

@marcusquinn said in Dashboard Stats / Health:

I honestly believe that open sourcing (again) could greatly help with that. In part just because of the great PR it'd generate. I can easily picture articles and blogs covering it all over the place (I'd even write some of them in places like Shareable and P2P Foundation blog etc!).

But also I personally know people who don't use nor subscribe to Cloudron precisely because it isn't open source.

Also think of e.g. all the people trying to push government bodies (who often have open source policies) into innovative directions. Imagine if we could get them all signed-up too?

In short, I can think of lots of reasons why more people might subscribe if Cloudron were open source again, and I can't think of any reasons why people would suddenly stop subscribing.

Could easily make this forum (or parts of it) subscriber only.

Paying for access to updates and support is the standard successful open source business model.

@jdaviescoates I signed up to the GIT. But I think either @girish or @nebulon have to give me permissions to make a repository or be added to one. I don't see the ability to do so anywhere.

And I could make a merge request for files that aren't in there open source and you think they could then merge it with their closed source section? I could try that. Thanks for the tip.

Yeah, it's pretty locked down to avoid spam. But pretty sure there are a few others on here who've got account on there and can do that stuff.

I've increased the project limit for your account now.
