<![CDATA[1Password has raised $620 million (USD)]]>Years ago, I was kind of a fanboy of 1Password. The first usable password manager for my Apple tech stack. The moment I switched to Linux, I lost my fanboy attitude because a native Linux app was missing. I tried the xpass/keypass/abcpass tools and finally ended up with bitwarden/vaultwarden on Cloudron. Bitwarden/vaultwarden works on all relevant platforms and meets all my current needs with an A+ grade 🙂

Let's see if this money will change the world of password managers.

People thinking this is an absurd amount of money are sleeping on how 1Password is quietly positioning itself to become the ground truth storage solution for corporate secret management, across devops and non-technical groups alike.
Given Hashicorp's market cap of 11B, and 1Password's narrative on how to become even more central to corporate use cases by being the storage layer for Vault deployments, it's a very reasonable leap for them to make!

And with its switch to rely on central cloud services this is a nice opportunity to lock-in users and make that 620 million investment worthwhile.
