The following link I shared with you is just because they are fake and scammers, they demand clients to pay the payment in advance by mobile wallet/online transaction and block them, and here in India prostitution is completely illegal so I m not able to go to the police and request you to delete that link and mark as spam.

Most existing users, they are quite benign. I think we are lucky so far with that we do little to no moderation (maybe only fixing some typos and moving to the right category) 🙂

In this specific case, the issue was the profile page had spam content. This is a bit more elaborate and I am not sure how @SPRADEEP even came across it. I think if we have a script to clean up profiles which are over 2 weeks old and have not posted anything and have some junk profile, we can delete them. I can't imagine it's hard to spot junk in profiles with some basic word matching.

  • active cloudron instance required and links to forum account
  • public forum post (new to cloudron, ask Q's here) with guest (no account needed) posting allowed only in that specific post
  • give forum veterans moderator power over that specific post

Reflecting back when I first came across Cloudron, I did have 1000 & 1 questions but they could have been answered by more tutorials and videos about Cloudron which has been expanding since then. However, I emailed support@ directly and didn't join the forum until I felt guilty emailing support about silly questions. Again, I feel having better documentation can solve all these newbie questions. For those who don't know me, I'm not a developer and fit nicely into the "a noob who doesn't mind getting his hands dirty" category.

That'd mean, someone who was curious about using Cloudron would not be able to post in the forum. Sure they could read, but if they had a particular question that wasn't answered they couldn't ask it.

I understand the want (and obvious need) to remove the existence of spam accounts, but I wonder if there's another way.

Currently, we don't allow sign up from cloudron.io directly (it's possible but hidden for various reasons), which is a blocker for such a system. It's on our list to allow a public sign up at some point.

Although the issue comes in with setting up cloudron instances. If the only requirement is to have a cloudron account but no instances, it doesn’t solve spam. If you require instances, then new users have a harder time getting help. Not an easy problem to solve

That way you could have an active Cloudron be a requirement for new forum signups. The forum is public anyway so lurkers could still read threads without being affected.
