We currently have several backups of Invoice Ninja as .tar.gz files.
We had to move the instance but we can't restore it because it says that the backup.tar.gz file can't be found.

On the other hand our backup file is called: app_client.technoredac.ca_v1.3.34.tar

In your case, it looks like your backups were in the file system and not external. If that is the case, you have to fill up the 'Import Backup' dialog manually:

Upload the backup app_client.xxx.tar.gz to somewhere in the server like
/tmp/app_client.xxx.tar.gz
.

In the import UI, Choose Filesystem

Put the path as
/tmp/app_client.xxx.tar.gz

It should import now.

Then I installed Cloudron and installed the application and tried to restore it from the application

Are you moving the app or are you moving Cloudron itself? Are you trying to restore just the app or the entire server/cloudron ?
