Can someone explain to me why I would want to do this and what the benefits are and also what the cons would be? I don’t quite get the point of email server location?</p>

If you use <code>my.*</code> it (afair) fails to auto setup.<br />
So basically it could be argued there is some UX involved.</p>

This makes it smoother for already configured mail clients.</p>
