Best Constant Contact alternative?

Hello Cloudron hive mind,
Someone I'm doing a bit of work with uses Constant Contact to send out email newsletters. They currently have 2133 subscribers. It would appear they are paying CAD $52.54/mo for what seems to me to be a really pretty crappy and restricted product (e.g. I just wanted to embed a newsletter archive on their website but we'd need to upgrade in order to be able to do that!)
I'm really hating pretty much everything about the Constant Contact user experience, so I'm looking for alternatives to recommend. They aren't using Cloudron or self-hosting anything and have a tiny budget.
What you people here recommend as an alternative. The only similar thing I've really used previously is MailChimp, and I'd say that is way better, so I may just suggest that, but keen to hear the thoughts of others here.

I note https://alternativeto.net/software/constant-contact/ has MailChimp at the top of the list... oh but that is indeed more expensive. I'm surprised by how pricey these products are these days.

Listmonk is a simple mailing list manager https://docs.cloudron.io/apps/listmonk/
Mautic https://docs.cloudron.io/apps/mautic/ would might be more appropriate for actually marketing and working with that many subscribers.
I've used Send in Blue (Europe based) and its OK.
I wouldn't recommend Mailchimp any more. It got sold to Intuit https://mailchimp.com/newsroom/intuit-completes-mailchimp-acquisition/ -- and it's going to keep getting worse.

We use a combination of Mautic or Listmonk (depending on the specific requirements) and https://github.com/postalserver/postal to send newsletters to several thousand subscribers, which work perfectly.

The client I'm working for don't have their own server or capability to self host anything, so I was mostly looking for hosted services, but I guess I could install Linkmonk or Mautic on my Cloudron...
@bmann @luckow do either of you know if Listmonk or Mautic allow you to embed an archive of newsletters on a (wordpress.com) website page?

No idea. Imho not out of the box. But both tools have an api. So theoretically.

@jdaviescoates A platform to consider is SendFox. They offer a pay-once option for $US49 that would handle 5,000 subscribers. I can't vouch for deliverability, but I have referred several clients to this platform without any negative feedback. Another option is Mailerlite. Again, I have no firsthand knowledge about deliverability but clients are using this with no complaints.
That being said, ListMonk looks like an interesting platform that we are evaluating to provide email list subscription services (using Cloudron) to our clients rather than referring them to these external solutions.
Since your client is paying in Canadian dollars, I would suggest that they confirm with any of these solution providers that their platforms comply with any Canadian spam and privacy regulations.
Lastly, it can be difficult to migrate from one provider to another. The new provider can get prickly about "opt-in" requirements and whether a CSV list exported from Constant Contact (assuming this is possible) meets those requirements. Better to know what is and what is not permissible before leaving Constant Contact.
