      Hi!

I have just configured a private Pixelfed instance on my VPS and followed a few accounts from other servers. But for some reason, the photos posted by these accounts doesn't load. I can see the description, comments, etc – but not the pictures.

I've checked https://<domain>/horizon/failed – and nothing logged there.

Any idea on whats going on here?

      /A

I just noticed that pictures shared in Stories from remote servers are loaded. But not "normal" shares.

@thoresson My own experience has been that Shared pics from others don't load properly if my own storage has not been set up properly, usually a syntax error with the Minio details. I suppose the reason is that my instance has no way to receive the image share and then load it in its own system for viewing. Make sure that is correct on your instance.

@scooke I haven't done any custom configuration for storage at all, which is what I guess you hint at. I'm all new to both Cloudron and Fediverse, but after doing a search for "minio cloudron" it seems to be a service for letting apps offload storage to a S3 compatible server?

Anyways. Suddenly photos started to appear in my feed, without me changing anything. And that's after days waiting. Strange. 🙂

But perhaps related: For all the accounts I follow, their follower/following count is 1/0: Only me as follower, and no accounts they are following. I don't think this reflects reality. Could this be a related federation problem?

@thoresson FWIW, at different times when setting up Mastodon instances, some showed images and media right away, some not, and even on the "same" one (just changed the IP, for example), one would propogate quickly, the other, ages. But you've discovered one trouble-shooting method: wait and see!

@scooke Thanks! Added "Wait and see" to the "Reboot" and "Reinstall" options! 🙂
