  • Hello, can I disable some Cloudron services?
    J jenstoke

@slotapp2 On Cloudron, core services like MySQL, MongoDB, Mail, and Graphite cannot be disabled because they are part of the platform’s managed stack, even if unused; the best you can do is uninstall unnecessary apps, disable mail in the Email settings if not needed, and simply ignore the idle services since they consume minimal resources — if you want only Baserow without extra services, consider running it directly via Docker outside Cloudron.

  • What do you do?
    J jenstoke

@ei8fdb No need to apologize — it’s a great question, and totally valid from a UX perspective!

I think you'll find that Cloudron users come from a wide range of backgrounds. Personally, I’d say I fall into the [insert your background here, e.g., developer/sysadmin/UX designer/etc.] category. But I’ve seen people here who are devs, sysadmins, small business owners, educators, and even non-technical users who just want more control over their data.

What’s great about Cloudron is that it really lowers the barrier to self-hosting, so you don’t have to be a hardcore DevOps person to use it. That’s probably why it appeals to people like you — UX designers — who want a balance between control and simplicity.

As for the survey — sounds like a great idea to me! I don’t see why anyone would object, especially if it’s short and anonymous. Could actually give the community some really interesting insights.

Happy to help if you want feedback on the survey questions too.

  • Does Outline support end-to-end encryption or client-side encryption?
    J jenstoke

Great question! Outline does not support end-to-end encryption (E2EE) or client-side encryption, even in the self-hosted version. The encryption it uses — TLS for data in transit and AES-256 for data at rest — applies at the server level, meaning the server (whether cloud-hosted or self-hosted) still has access to the unencrypted document contents. So, while data is securely transmitted and stored, it is not encrypted in a way that prevents server access, which is what true E2EE or client-side encryption would provide.
