  • Peertube - a decentralized video hosting network
    synchroneS synchrone

PeerTube is software that you install on a web server. It allows you to create a video hosting website, so create your "homemade YouTube".

The difference to YouTube is that it's not intended to create a huge platform centralizing videos from the whole world on a single server farm (which is horribly expensive).

On the contrary, PeerTube's concept is to create a network of multiple small interconnected video hosting providers.

They have recently finished crowdfunding, so it seems to be getting traction

  • Soundscape - a music streaming server

    Have you actually used it?

It is nothing more than a youtube wrapper. One cannot upload music there, only paste YouTube URLs

Kaiwa is no longer maintained, but there is now inverse.chat.

I have packaged this as https://git.cloudron.io/synchrone/jabber-app, but also got stuck on TLS certificates.

  • Subsonic/Libresonic/Airsonic - a music streaming server
    synchroneS synchrone

While I am aware of a couple of music streaming services, that have already been proposed, I do think subsonic and it's forks have been around super long and are battle proven.

So I have already packaged Airsonic, being the most up to date and maintained.

At the moment music needs to be updated there via a built-in FTP, which is not very interoperable, but in my opinion will work for an MVP.

Currently this app is waiting for a review from @nebulon or @girish
