Hi Guys,
Some users are confusing the purpose of the OpenVPN app.The OpenVPN app provides a tunnel to channel all the traffic from your devices via the Cloudron. Websites and services that you visit will not see the IP address of your devices but they will see the IP address and possibly the RDNS hostname of your Cloudron.
I use the OpenVPN app extensively because many of the cafe/wifi networks I work from block traffic or drop random traffic (possibly some misconfigured router or over-enthusiastic application firewall).
You can check what sort of information can be gathered from your Cloudron's IP address using https://ipleak.net/.
I have added this note to our docs - https://cloudron.io/documentation/apps/openvpn/#privacy

Don't mind my asking but what speaks against integrating it as a firewall to protect some apps from unauthorized access? It would be a perfect addition to it's functionality if there was say a checkbox in the security tab of other apps that allows one to "require Cloudron VPN to access this app".

@svtx Can be done totally. It's in our plan, but no concrete timeline yet. See https://forum.cloudron.io/topic/4108/can-we-restrict-access-to-apps-behind-the-openvpn-app . We planned it for 7.4 (https://forum.cloudron.io/topic/8269/what-s-coming-in-7-4) but didn't follow through.
