    Hey there,

I saw that Cloudron 8 now allows for non AVX support. I'm still on 7.5.2 as a result. Is there a published upgrade path to get to 8, or would I be stuck doing a reinstall?

    Thanks,

    Alex

Hi, there is no automatic upgrade path, but we can update your instance manually, if you contact us at support@cloudron.io and enable remote SSH support https://docs.cloudron.io/support/#remote-support

I did this and it was VERY hacky and had to mess with cloudron code, but was able to do it in the end.

@nebulon, out of curiosity, could you outline how you go about this process? Thanks!

The process is essentially the same as normal updates:

            1. fetching new release tarball
            2. extracting and replace old release
            3. run the upgrade script

We have an internal hotfix tool for development which performs those steps, if run from within a git tree with the target release tag checked out. Mostly this is not provided automatically to those Cloudrons is, that we haven't tested the release jump much, so we don't want to risk users being offline until we have time to potentially fix some edge case on that server.
