Graphite still not stable

Every so often I check if a service is running during troubleshooting and graphite is always orange.
It doesn't appear to restart itself, send OOM messages, but is in a stuck state until the restart button is pushed manually.
Furthermore, its memory usage keeps creeping up to the set limit, so I bump it every time. Now it's set at 512MB (the green bar only filling half way) and I still found it stuck.
Is there a replacement service?
Is there a more permanent fix?
Is there a more reliable check?
Is there a better app recovery possible?
Is there a memory leak?
is there a way to flush its cache or memory periodically? -
