Where do you guys stream?
-
I am curious about this. I have a twitch account but I never really use it. My problems are this:
- I would prefer not to use Twitch if I can avoid it and people need accounts to participate in chat
- Peertube has no chat
- Owncast hammers my CPU too hard for me to use on my cloudron
I guess Twitch is the answer for now unless a better option is packaged or Peertube gets chat for lives? Are there alternative services you guys use?

@atrilahiji What about YouTube? Similar to Twitch?
-
@plusone-nick I would, but their UI for streaming is incredibly confusing. One thing is I am also trying to remove my reliance on my google account (this is easier said than done) and am trying to get to a point where I can safely delete it.
-
@atrilahiji indeed, I think that's a good reason we are all here

@plusone-nick Yeah. I find Twitch is harder to avoid though. Theres Mixer but I'd say Twitch is the best service at the moment. Meh I guess streams are inherently public anyways so using Twitch isn't the worst.
I would still like to see stuff like https://openstreamingplatform.com/ packaged for when I can save up the cash for a major CPU upgrade. An i3-9100 doesn't really cut it for 37 apps + transcoding a livestream it turns out...

@atrilahiji Mixer is actually gone that's why Ninja is back on Twitch but yeah its basically the standard
open streaming platform does look good but yeah as you mention its all a resource hog - only option MORE HARDWARE & POWER! lol
-
@atrilahiji Have you tried https://openstreamingplatform.com/ ? It's self-hosted, open source, and has XMPP based chat that doesn't require registration for users. Also - It wont hammer your CPU as hard.

@atrilahiji said in Where do you guys stream?:
Theres Mixer
Mixer has been sold to Facebook and is merging with them.
