Automatic update to Ubuntu 18.04

Hi! I've seen that Cloudron now supports Ubuntu 18.04, what is great.
Do I need to create a new server (in my case, a Digital Ocean droplet), backup the current Ubuntu 16.04 Cloudron, restore it in the new server and set my domain to point to the new server or there is an easier way?
Can I update Ubuntu in the current 16.04 server or will it break Cloudron?

You can either upgrade directly or get a new server and restore a backup
