cPanel DNS

@micmc Do you mean to host the main website via LAMP on the Cloudron server that hosts the app for that website?
If it is, we did think of this and tried to use LAMP to run a website, but we have a few issues.
- No one experienced in LAMP and other apps needed for a website to run.
- Those of us who have good computer/web design knowledge like the owner who set up the websites, Cloudron server etc. struggle to use the apps and find it difficult to use the apps.
- Setup on the apps is long-winded and takes time, not just that not very dyslexic friendly, which our boss is.
- The person who does the IT is very busy as he runs the charity as well. Leaving little time for lots of back-end work to get things working (Configurations, commands, installing dependents etc.).
That is why for our websites we use, cPanel with Cloudliux for ease and quick setups. Our DNS records from our servers are instant and with the new features of cpanel like https://docs.cpanel.net/cpanel/domains/dynamic-dns/ and Addons like sitepad and running complex scrips.
For instance, cPanel and cloudlinux have full support ruby, nodejs and everything we need for Larvel and other software without the need of an experienced mind, thank god for GUI, that is one of the reasons why we use Cloudron to run apps like Mastodon, Discourse etc....
Hope this covers the reason we prefer cPanel over Cloudron to run our websites.

Yes, well, this is somewhat what I meant. I do not know on what your main website is running, though as far as I know there's nothing Cloudron can't do that cpanel does. I would say it's not even comparable.
If it is, we did think of this and tried to use LAMP to run a website, but we have a few issues.
LAMP is the environment on which you can run about anything. It could be comparable to a stand alone VPS on which you install whatever tools, apps, or platform you need to run your website or whatever service.
As far as I know, this is basically what you get also with cpanel. You get a VPS and you still need to install what you need on there to run your site. I have reasons to doubt that your actual main website would not run well and be as easy to manage as it is on cpanel.
On the other hand, I perfectly understand the technical barriers you encounter, and it's often due to a lack of little more knowledge. So, depending on what your main website's running and how things are set, it might be easier than you think to move it. Hence, that would be much easier on the organization to manage as well. I'd be willing to help at absolutely no charge, just PM me if interested.

Is that a Google Sites website? I'm guessing so.
BTW, at the bottom of the homepage it says:
"Non-profit Charitable Organisation Registered and Regulated by the CIC Commission"
There are a few issues with this:
- CICs cannot be charitable.
- CIC are registered by Companies House, and are
- Regulated by the Office of the Regulator of Community Interest Companies (CIC Regulator), not the "CIC Commission"
May I suggest you change it to read something like this instead:
"Non-profit Community Interest Community Registered by Companies House and Regulated by the CIC Regulator"
Similarly, at the bottom of e.g. your Sponsors page you have a bit under About Us where it says you are a "Non-profit Chairty".
You've misspelled Charity as Chairty. But you really need to remove all references to charity as CICs cannot also be charities.
See e.g. this gov guidance where it states it clearly in black and white:
Can a company be both a community interest company and a
charity?
No. An organisation must choose whether it wishes to register as a community interest
company (CIC) or a charity. CICs are more lightly regulated than charities but do not have
the benefit of charitable status, even if their activities are entirely charitable in nature -
Thanks, and although this has nothing to do with my original post on the integration of cPanel and Cloudron, I will let them know about the spelling mistake.
Our main non-profit website is a Google website as we have a non-profit account with them. Our services websites are not Google websites. So not entirely sure why this has been brought up in this post.
Although we are working on our own website the Google one is temp while we are developing it.
As for the rest of your post yet again not relating to my post about the integration of cPanel and Cloudron DNS for some reason.
"CICs cannot be charitable."
We choose to be charitable.
While I was writing this reply I went ahead and fixed the spelling issue.
If you also scroll right down to the bottom it already states similar to what you have put about putting "Non-profit Community Interest Community Registered by Companies House and Regulated by the CIC Regulator" but I guess you missed that part. Our CIC number connect direct to companies house.
As for Charitable or Charity, there is a fine line and that is why we started this petition,

Formally recognise CIC's as a non-profit charitable/charity organisation.
Formally recognise Community Interest Companies (CIC) as a form of non-profit charitable/charity organisation. CIC do a lot of good for the community, individual and even other charities.
Unless a company or organisation independently sees CIC as a charitable non-profit organisation CIC's get little or no help or support. They can not gain funding or get fundraising from educational institutes and more. This forces a lot of CIC to close, this needs to change and see CIC formations recognised as a charitable non-profit organisation.
As far as we see it we are asset-locked being a CIC, meaning if we had to close all our assets would be sent to a designated charity of our choosing like the RSPCA & few other charities like suicide prevention etc., and no one profits or recuperates costs from the closure of a CIC we are a charity or charitable organisation.
We are restricted and regulated so that we are not allowed profits and that all profits get used for the CIC and it's services or pay much-needed staff.
The only thing stopping the CIC's from formally being seen as a charity is the UK Government. They have never discussed in parliament the good CIC's do or the important work they do, they do not provide support or help and it needs to change. This is why organisations like
- Microsoft
- Canva
- Digital Ocean
- and so many more organisations let CIC get free or discounted services via their NON-Profit Programs.
This is because these companies see that CIC's do the exact same work as a charity registered on Charity Commissions and get nothing, they are also forced to lock assets and have restrictions on profits, so why can't they be called a non-profit charity?
Our argument is when you see our charity and charities like Mind, Pypirus, RSPCA or similar what is the difference?
Answer: None! We do the same work and provide the same free services.
So I think you will find most people nowadays understand that there are many forms of charities and charitable organisations and why CIC's should be included in this.
Also, you do not know our plans but here is a sneak peek for the future...
Can a charity have a subsidiary which is a community interest
company?Yes. A charity may set up a CIC subsidiary company. For example, a charity could set-up
a CIC subsidiary company to run a charity shop and pass some or ALL of the profits to the
charity that owns it.Once we have enough profits to take on a community centre we will be opening one to benefit people in person as well as online, and you need to have an annual income is over £5,000 or if you set up a charity. So once we have that all in place we will be registering to get a full Charity Status.
Once we have full charity status with a CIC that can provide the charity with all its financial needs we will also add our charity number to the website.
But these things take time, and to be honest, your reply is completely unrelated to our OP, seems petty, derogatory, and belittling of the work we do, and don't understand what you are trying to accomplish with your reply to a post about DNS and cPanel. Maybe you could have private messaged us?
We work hard every day for people and for animals.
But if you have a real issue with our wording on our website, spelling mistakes or the fact one of our many websites is run by Google Sites, by all means, complain to https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/office-of-the-regulator-of-community-interest-companies/about/complaints-procedure we have had a few that have tried to belittle the good work we try to do and nothing has come from it.

There is always one on every website. You know the ones that like to rip things apart for the fun of it. What does that guy's post have to do with cPanel and DNS?
BTW Good thought on that but is it possible for Cloudron to update DNS on a cPanel server?
-
Wow, what is his problem?
I know it is unrelated but since @mhgcic brought it up is Lamp easier than cPanel to use? is there a GUI for it?

@micmc was wondering what your main website is.
We're a helpful community here on the Cloudron forum, so we were just trying to understand your needs and why you're not already using Cloudron for your main website (you could easily e.g. use WordPress, Ghost, or a bunch of other apps that are on Cloudron)

I didn't miss it, I pointed out issues with it (e.g. there is no such things at the "CIC Commission" it's commonly called the CIC Regulator)

Because they are much less lightly regulated than Registered Charities. CICs were set-up for social enterprises to use, not for charitable organisations. I give advice on legal structures all the time and to be honest it just sounds to me like you go suboptimal advice when starting up (this is incredibly common). If everything you do is charitable you would've been better off registering as either a CIO (Charitable Incorporated Organisation) or just a Charitiable Company Limited by Guarantee, not a CIC.

Cloudron does all that cPanel does and more. There's no need for cPanel with Cloudron. Yes, with GUI when necessary. Basically, your cPanel account comes empty just as a LAMP installation is.
