I want to install some official Discourse plugins to my forum but I am afraid it will break my forum related to the compatibility issue.

How to know if some plugins are not compatible with the Cloudron-Discourse environment?

And what's the best practice to install plugins and deactivate the Discourse plugin on the Cloudron environment? Thank you.

I guess the best way to test this is to install a second discourse for testing and try the plugin there first.

Alternately you could also create an app backup, then test the plugin and roll-back if it doesn't work.

@IniBudi currently it seems most Discourse plugins (including official ones) just don't work on Cloudron 😭

But as I understand it it's on @girish's todo list to sort.

I use Cloudron with Gandi & Hetzner

@jdaviescoates Yes correct, I just installed the official plugins but it makes my forum down. So, I decided to remove the plugin.

@nebulon, I just want to know which plugins are compatible with Cloudron based on other user's experience. If others share the list of plugins that are compatible with Cloudron. So, I don't need to test many plugins. 😊

@IniBudi Best to try them one by one yourself. Then you'll know which one breaks, which can help the team fix something if needed.

Personally I'd say best to wait for @girish to get them working (assuming/ hoping he does! 🙏 ) before wasting any more time testing any. That's what I'm going to do 🙂

@robi I've tried to install the plugin one by one. But it always breaks my forum.

If I remove the plugin folder, without restarting the apps. The forum is running without any errors. But if there's a plugin folder, it made my forum to be 500 errors.

Have you experience with successful installation plugins on Discourse?

@jdaviescoates Yes, I agree with you.

Discourse is getting there. I have managed to get the app updated. Now it's just a lot of testing.

Wouldn't we need to update to something?
My Cloudron installation says it is up to date with Discourse Cloudron version being org.discourse.cloudronapp@2.2.3 11.11.2023.
                              ?

@nafets-lesierk thankfully it's really easy to move server with Cloudron.

I'd recommend moving to Hetzner - almost as cheap at Netcup, but overall much better imho 🙂

                                      Follow the instructions here:
                                      https://docs.cloudron.io/backups/#restore-cloudron

I recommend doing a dry run first.
                                      https://docs.cloudron.io/backups/#dry-run

I'd also recommend checking the spam black list status of the IP (e.g. on here https://mxtoolbox.com/blacklists.aspx ) of your new server before starting to move over to it (and if it's bad as for a new IP/ new server that has a clean slate).

I use Cloudron with Gandi & Hetzner
