Zotero looks pretty neat, but it doesn't appear to be self-hostable based on what I've seen.

@infogulch Zotero is licenced under the GNU AGPL v3.

All Zotero code is on Github:
          https://github.com/zotero

          There is a .deb:
          https://github.com/retorquere/zotero-deb

There are some Docker images too, but I am not sure how official they are:

Zotero have a new tool for generating references according to different manuals of style, ZoteroBib:
          https://zbib.org/

          There is a browser extension:

@LoudLemur Moreover if I remember correctly I think there even is a Firefox extension to use with Zotero which I used several years ago, and indeed it's an amazing app for research and writing or any needs for personal information DB.

@LoudLemur By "not self-hostable" I mean the sync service. This is the cloudron forum, in this context I don't really care that it's an open source and cross platform local application -- that's great, but it doesn't help me run the cloud-dependent bits myself.

If I self hosted my own Data Syncing service, where would I put that address in the app?:

              https://www.zotero.org/support/sync :

The first step to syncing your Zotero library is to create a Zotero account
