Matrix WhatsApp Bridge

@andreasdueren awesome. Will add to our list. But is this a web app? As in, after installation, what will be there if I visit the domain of the bridge app?
@girish Not a web app and no UI. The bridge is managed via a matrix client after configuring bridge and synapse to sync.

@andreasdueren I see. I think we have to wait for a future Cloudron release for this since the UI has no way to handle "daemon" style apps. I think we have a couple of these by now, so we should add support in the platform for this.
@girish well it’s not really different from the synapse app?

@andreasdueren the synapse app has a homepage . does this app have one too? i.e when you install the app and visit the domain on browser, what do you see? if it has some sort of landing page, then you are right, what I said doesn't apply to this app..

@girish Not by design. However this could be easily added since it's just a static website with no complexity

@staff any reason we can't add this @andreasdueren Matrix-WhatsApp Bridge app to the app store?

@jdaviescoates I think we have to figure a way to get such niche app packages published. At least, we are on board internally to do something to allow external publishers, so we will work on something soon.

I'm not sure it's really a niche app. I'd guess that many/ most people running Matrix/ Element might like to use this (and other similar bridges too). IMHO ideally Cloudron Matrix would come bundled with WhatsApp, Signal and Telegram bridges much like Element One does.

I would argue that this is equal or even less of a niche app than the Valheim Gameserver for example.

Maybe niche is not the right term but I simply meant to say is that "extensions" to apps by third parties is quite a burden for app packages. It's best to figure out a way by which other people can host it easily especially when people are making their efforts public.

I understand that it needs to be feasible to maintain these kind of things. Cloudron needs to be profitable after all. I hope we can find some solution for these things, especially if they're simple go binaries like this one.

I'm looking to install the Zulip bridge in order to connect our Matrix server with a Zulip chat that collaborators use. Supporting bridges somehow seems important, as bridging is really central to Matrix's value proposition. (Of course, it is absurd that bridging requires third-party software installation rather than some kind of simple, integrated plugin architecture.)
Is there a way to set this up on the app/data side so it is persistent through updates?
