Considering a video server for streaming/download...suggestions?
Up until now I've been giving my friends access to a folder I shared on my Seafile server, so they can watch and/or download the movies I choose to share. However this is a bit cumbersome for a couple of reasons, Seafile only offers to stream h264/mp4 files, and I need to upload the file to Seafile's own DB, effectively duplicating the storage needs. I'd like to have some sort of similar simple frontend for people to choose video files and be offered to either stream them (I have plenty of upload bandwidth) or download them to their phone/computer. What would you guys recommend? Thanks a lot!
@Jhonmicky apart from what was already said in https://www.reddit.com/r/selfhosted/comments/cmodjm/considering_a_video_server_for/ cloudron also has the "surfer" app from which you could easily serve these files (but then it still needs to be in a format the browser can easily/directly process).
@fbartels webm and mp4 should be supported by Firefox, Opera, and Google. Since Edge is now Chromium based, maybe that as well. IE I am not mentioning here due to lack of support from Microsoft at this point.

You might want to consider using something like Nextcloud, uploading the files to a folder and then sharing the folder publicly. this should do what you want with little setup.
