Direct messages no longer work

I tried to send a message to a new user of my pixelfed instance but then I got this following page

This exactly happens when after mentioning the users user name

This sounds much like an app bug itself, not so much related to the Cloudron package.

It may be similar to https://github.com/pixelfed/pixelfed/issues/2500 could be helpful if you add a comment with your information how to reproduce it.

I remember I didn’t have this issue about 7-8 months back when I installed it using cloudron

Update direct works for admin accounts,

Which means admin itself is unable to send messages but users are able to send message only to admins

This error occurs only when other users try to interact each other + when admin tries to direct with others

Users can only send direct messages to the first admin of the instance

Does the author of pixelfed or who ever responsible is caring of these bugs can we hope for a working or in other words a stable release of bug fixed version of pixelfed?

Including direct messages not working for all users

And

Post filters (css) not applying to the image ?

• also make dark mode the default mode and make the dark but smart cause some icons or link text don’t appear on dark mode it’s 2021

When can we expect these fixed I’m sorry I’m not here to demand but only to be aware when would a stable version arrive ??

Besides these are main and basic features one would expect to work just after installing the app like direct messages and filters and default dark mode

As @nebulon pointed out this is very likely a regression in the upstream release of Pixelfed. I would suggest creating an issue here: https://github.com/pixelfed/pixelfed/issues

Would you mind providing me a short explanation I went through this site >> pixelfed.social signed up checked direct messages it works fine including editing post works fine too this site pixelfed.social has less error than what i installed through cloudron it has the same version as mine which I’m running the updated version I wonder why isn’t direct messages working on my install??im not sure whether it was a cloudron install or a direct install but why does features lack?

On to your consideration https://pixelfed.social works fine with its desired features but pixelfed instance installed through cloudron lacks features like direct messaging and gif post preview , post color filters any idea why ?

Since you mentioned that the versions are the same, then I can only think of this being a difference in configuration of the app then. I don't know how pixelfed.social is configured. Usually we try to stick with defaults from a packaging perspective.

@onlybro I setup an instance for our company at https://pixelfed.cloudron.io/ to test things out. gif animation does work for me but after applying any effect it loses the animation.

I can also see the filters:

I can see the DM screen but there is some app error when I try to see the messages:

Overall, most of the bugs are just app bugs, please do report them upstream: https://github.com/pixelfed/pixelfed . I think you reported some already. Note that we don't develop the app itself, we only packaged it.

The developer claims pixelfed.social is the very same package from the original distribution itself.

Perhaps you can try looking at the previous version of pixelfed package and the latest cause I remember a year before direct message was working fine on cloudron
