We all started somewhere — maybe frustrated by a subscription paywall, maybe out of curiosity, or maybe just because we like tinkering. But now that we’ve dipped (or plunged) into the world of self-hosting, a lot has changed.
Before: I had 10+ accounts across platforms like Trello, Evernote, Dropbox, etc. Managing passwords was a mess.
After: I’m running Vikunja, Joplin Server, Nextcloud, and Bitwarden via Cloudron. Everything’s in one place, encrypted, and under my control.
Would love to hear your stories — big or small. Whether you're new to this or deep in homelab territory, how has self-hosting changed you?
