  • Xen Orchestra Community Edition (XOCE)
    T tracker

Requesting adding the Xen Orchestra Community Edition. This is a web-based management console for XCP-NG hypervisor.

Notes: XOCE has high memory requirements (3 GB) and the snap shot, backup and export features can be demanding on system resources. It would not be recommended for use on cloud hosted VPS instances. Also for security reasons, XOCE should only be used locally (self-hosted installs) or over a VPN. Exposing the required communication ports for hypervisor management to the internet is not recommended. It would be beneficial to have remote web access for managing client systems. It would also be beneficial to have the ability to disable on demand access to XOCE from the web as some clients have security restrictions for portions of their business networks.

Automated install of XOCE main project page is here at https://github.com/Jarli01/xenorchestra_installer

The initial install bash script is here at https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Jarli01/xenorchestra_installer/master/xoce-import.sh

The automated update script project page is here at https://github.com/Jarli01/xenorchestra_updater

    The update script is https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Jarli01/xenorchestra_updater/master/xo-update.sh

Use case: I own and operate an IT services business, providing solutions and design consulting for information systems. Our primary focus is small and medium businesses with a few large clients too. We are completing an evaluation Cloudron and other similar solutions. Cloudron is our front runner and choice for sure. Many existing clients have Cloudron or similar solutions installed locally (self-hosted) on a dedicated server or running as a VM. Some clients have a "box farm" and consolidation of physical and\or virtual machine sprawl is a top task for us. Our preferred hypervisor is XCP-ng and we are seeing a lot of businesses move to it or will move to it in the next 18 months.

  • UniFi Network Server (was Unifi Cloud Controller)
    T tracker

If it helps dev ops getting this request going, here are some resources that automate setup and then automate updating UniFi controllers.

    https://community.ui.com/questions/UniFi-Installation-Scripts-or-UniFi-Easy-Update-Script-or-UniFi-Lets-Encrypt-or-UniFi-Easy-Encrypt-/ccbc7530-dd61-40a7-82ec-22b17f027776

Current Stable Release of UniFi Controller is 6.1.67

    • The related install bash script is here at https://get.glennr.nl/unifi/install/unifi-6.1.67.sh
    • The update bash script is here at https://get.glennr.nl/unifi/update/unifi-update.sh

Notes: both the installer and the update scripts require user input and should be easy to pipe in required info.

Have built many controllers for clients based on Debain and Ubuntu and this has been rocksolid. Features include the ablility to backup during upgrade, support for 2FA logins and installing test branch of upcoming releases.

All the required ports are listed here at https://help.ui.com/hc/en-us/articles/218506997-UniFi-Ports-Used
