Hostage situation - Upgrade or loose access to your installation?
-
Anyone know what this is about?
Got notified I needed to upgrade my rocket.chat installation, or loose access to it.
Thats crazy. What if I want to archive an installation for record keeping and history, and suddenly when I need access to it I can not, as someone "out there" has decided I can not have access to my own installation. Pure insanity.

Image alt:A Workspace version unsupported Desktop and mobile app access to https://chat.dnfi.no/ will be cut off in 13 day(s). This workspace is running an unsupported version of Rocket.Chat. Your workspace admin needs to update to at least v7.10.0 to prevent cutoff. -
Hello @stoccafisso
It looks like you are using an outdated version of RocketChat from before https://forum.cloudron.io/post/112416.
So you should update your RocketChat. Also, the message states that that desktop and mobile access will be lost but not the web browser access I assume.
Maybe this is due to some upstream changes in the desktop and mobile client no longer supporting the old version? -

Maybe you are correct, that web browser access will still be possible for outdated versions, but did not get to verify this as I upgraded manally to secure continued access. But still a scary message, it could have been communicated clearer by the devs.
Sorry about my rant. Just delete it, as it does probably not help anyone here.
