Whoops, installed instead of restored. Do I need to start all over again?
-
I meant to restore a full backup, but I missed the little "looking to restore" link at the bottom when setting up the first domain for a new Cloudron install.
Is there some way I can get to the restore screen again? Or do I need to start all over again? (I hope not but fear perhaps I do - which is a pain because Netcup VPS servers only come with Ubuntu Minimum - whatever that is - and require manually installing Ubuntu these days, which takes bloody ages )
-
Oh man, so I re-installed Ubuntu from scratch to start again...
But now the Cloudron install is stuck doing this (and has been for ages)
Error response from daemon: Get "https://registry.ipv6.docker.com/v2/": net/http: request canceled while waiting for connection (Client.Timeout exceeded while awaiting headers) 2023-09-27T21:45:59 ==> installer: Could not pull cloudron/base:3.2.0@sha256:ba1d566164a67c266782545ea9809dc611c4152e27686fd14060332dd88263ea
What do I do now? Just keep waiting and hope it eventually works...?
Or start all over again, again?
-
Does IPv6 work on your server?
-
@jayonrails I presume so because it installed fine previously on the exact same server just a few hours ago. But then I went and finished the install instead of restoring from a backup as I had intended and had to start all over again...
-
To answer the topic question: yes, unfortunately, you have to start over again. You also have to start over again if you installed the wrong cloudron version ...
Maybe someday we will focus on a Cloudron uninstall script but so far it has not been worth it.

Well, I left it running all night and it didn't ever get anywhere. So I guess it start again, again

Oh, actually, perhaps just abandon Netcup, because it seems many of their VPS (including the one I've just got) don't support AVX which will very soon be necessary for Cloudron.

CloudronMongoDB.FTFY

@necrevistonnezr well, sure, but Cloudron uses MongoDB, so it's both.
The next version of Cloudron will require AVX support:
@girish said in What's coming in 7.6:
In the spirit of quicker releases, we will make an intermediate 7.6 release before the big backup changes in 8.0.
What's coming:
Update MongoDB to 5.0. Important: this release requires AVX support in CPU

I'm still trying to figure out if Cloudron uses MongoDB "internally" for its sevices or if it's just apps that require MongoDB?!
So far I've seen:- Wekan
- Rocket Chat
- Ackee
- n8n

Good question, but either way I'd guess @staff might perhaps add something that will prevent you updating to 7.6 either way if you don't have AVX? Or perhaps not and they'll just be a warning
But yeah be good to have more clarity on the implications either way.

Yep:
@girish said in What's coming in 7.6:
@necrevistonnezr meemo, rocketchat, ackee, wekan & nodebb need mongodb. But the way it's implemented you cannot update beyond 7.5.x . It will just error saying AVX support is needed.
