Persist backup app doesn't work
-
I use a Hetzner Storage box, the backup was also not present there but ... recently I switched on their StorageBox automatic snapshots for 10 extras days and there I could find the backup!

woohoo! thank goodness for that! redundancy for the win!
-
@girish good idea:
2-daily backup/retention this morning:
Jan 09 00:30:01box:tasks update 10167: {"message":"2024-01-01-070000-747/app_www.abcd.tld_v3.3.2: Removing /mnt/cloudronbackup/2024-01-01-070000-747/app_www.abcd.tld_v3.3.2.tar.gz"} Jan 09 00:30:01box:backupcleaner removeBackup: removed 2024-01-01-070000-747/app_www.abcd.tld_v3.3.2
and some lines later:
Jan 09 00:30:03box:tasks update 10167: {"message":"Removing missing backup 2024-01-01-190000-766/app_www.abcd.tld_v3.3.2"}
In which log can I find the moment of applying the "persist backup"?
-
@imc67 the backup ids you posted are different no? First one is
2024-01-01-070000-747
and second is2024-01-01-190000-766
. There were (atleast) two backups on that 1 jan. Which one was persisted?for persisted backups, the logs will say
keep/discard: preserveSecs
(basically, preserved for infinity). -
@girish I added the "persist backup" on the 8th, don't remember which one of the 2 of the 1st of Jan. I do remember seeing an icon in front of the backup row which I've never seen before because this was the first time I used this functionality.
In the retention logs of the 8th and 9th I don't see
preserveSecs
related to this app.I'll try to reproduce it today with a random very latest available app backup and see what happens.

Hi @girish, I can easily reproduce this so I guess you can too?
2 days ago I marked one app oldest backup as "persistent", after 24 hours it was still there but after checking it was part of the 'special' Box-update backup that is retained longer.
Yesterday I marked again one app oldest backup as "persistent", now after almost 24 hours the backup is gone!
-
@girish said in Persist backup app doesn't work:
@imc67 OK, I have marked one of the backups are preserved now, let's see what's going on.
... curious
-
@girish I tested it on 3 different Cloudrons (Premium) in a Wordpress Unmanaged app, marked the oldest available app backup as persistent and within 24 hours ALL are gone!!!
The only similarity between the Cloudrons: they use a (each its own) Hetzner StorageBox with CIFS in tgz 2 times a day and 7 days retention. -
@imc67 just to test I've just edited the most recent backup of a bunch of my WordPress (Developer) installs and checked the persist box... let's see what happens on my Cloudron too...
I use one big Hetzner StorageBox with CIFS in tgz for everything (just once a day)

the most recent
Thanks!!
maybe easier to select the oldest then you don't have to wait for the retention period to pass

I'll do that now...
Edit: I went for the oldest backup of the current package version (last copy of previous packages versions persisting due to rules about that).

@imc67 yes, please. I can't reproduce this. My backups are still persisting.
just sent you an email to support@

I realise now I should've done screenshot, but I can confirm that all of those "oldest backup of the current package version" that I had edited to persist have now disappeared and have not persisted at all!
Something is clearly very wrong somewhere.
I've just edited another "oldest backup of the current package version". Presumably it'll also disappear...
