Question for the hive-mind of experience here:

If setting up a private forum (accessible by approved logged-in users only), would you go NodeBB, Discourse, or something else?

@girish and @nebulon may have an opinion, from managing NodeBB?

I migrated from vBulletin to XenForo and eventually settled on using NodeBB. I find NodeBB to be fantastic, agile, and easy to manage.

You can also try Apache Answer with its new approach.

@zonzonzon I do like NodeBB, too. It's the "private" part I couldn't find a standard solution for.

Loomio and HumHub are also possibly other contenders here (which atleast are seemed to be designed to be 'private'). Never operated a truly private forum, but I would definitely also look into some sort of network blocking/VPN to truly make it private.
