Hetzner finally offering S3 Object Storage
-
Hetzner has recently started a beta for S3 Objet Storage.
Looking forward to offloading Mastodon, Nextcloud and Peertube Storage.@sponch Oh, cool! You think it's Minio behind the scenes, or their own thing?
-
I just got access to the test already. I currently have it connected to Nextcloud as an external drive. So far it looks promising
Very fast processing ie uploading large files from the server to disk storage and downloading.

@matix131997 cool! is there a tutorial how to connect Nextcloud with Hetzner object storage?

In the application you need to run โExternal Storage supportโ. After launching in the settings you need to add. Then it will appear as a โfolderโ

ah I see what you mean with external storage - sorry my mistake - looking for a solution as primary storage. But thanks anyway for your reply
@sponch You can't use it as primary storage for the app, you need a mounted volume for that.

Not true. You can use Object storage as your primary storage. I was playing around with it a bit yesterday but I'm not sure how stable this implementation is. At least I couldn't get Hetzner S3 work properly.

@andreasdueren "for the app"

@andreasdueren
Apparently, you can as primary storage, but the risks are high for Nextcloud applications in Cloudron, e.g.: resetting the file where the environment variable settings are located, or restoring the application, where there will be a conflict between the database and files located in external S3 storage. -

@marcusquinn Sorry missed that part
