    Hello,

I would like to change my Mastodon domain to have something shorter than the actual. Is there an easy way ?
Is someone has feedback or tutorial about this ?

    Thank you by advance

    Regards

Since the domain is part of the user handles in the fediverse, this is always tricky and depends not just on mastodon but other software in the fediverse, so your milage may vary. Certainly if you change the domain for the app, also make sure to update the well-known document https://docs.cloudron.io/domains/#well-known-locations

We also have some info on domain change and federation at https://docs.cloudron.io/apps/mastodon/#federation

I unfortunately do not find any .well-known folder on my app root.
and is it possible to run a brand new instance in the same cloudron and use the Mastodon tools to migrate from one domain to another ?

Oh sorry I pasted the wrong link for well-known, updated my previous post. The well-known is configured per domain in the domains view.

Not sure about the migration into a new instance, at least I haven't done so yet.

That feature is to "forward" from old to new handle, but since your handle is the same it won't work. Unless your account has lots of data/followers it is probably not worth the hassle to migrate.

                ok, understood.
The only way would be to forward sebastienserre@mastodon.social.thivinfo.com to sebastien@mastodon.thivinfo.com and then sebastien@mastodon.thivinfo.com to sebastienserre@mastodon.thivinfo.com

But it will force me to maintain the old instance. OK. Thank you for your help
