    Hi,

It looks like StirlingPDF is evolving and introducing user limits based on pricing-tier.

While it seems no all has been implemented yet and there are differences between the StirlingPDF website and the actual code, changes are coming.

It is not quite clear however how this will impact Cloudron and Cloudron users.

    More info here for example:
    https://github.com/Stirling-Tools/Stirling-PDF/discussions/3577
    https://github.com/Stirling-Tools/Stirling-PDF/discussions/3987

Does Cloudron and Cloudron authentication with OIDC falls into the "3rd party authentication" category, or will this be a "named account system"?

Will there be a "grandfathering" approach?
How will this works with account management (e.g. set number of seat/user at the time of release, impact and management of user account deletion)?
What is the timeline on this?

@staff Do you have more info about this and the impact on Cloudron?
@froodle Can you provide more info on this?

This comes from a place of anticipation and willingness to support but within the realm and reality of each situation

    Thanks in advance,

Thanks for the heads up. I just have my instance completely open with no login necessary (and I can't quite imagine when/ why one would want/ need to restrict it myself 🤷 ) so happily it seems like none of this will effect me.

I use Cloudron with Gandi & Hetzner

Good to know. We don't have any information more than what is public.

          Hi all!
This will be with our V2 release in month or two and is only for named login accounts. Any third party Auth like cloudron etc completely fine! And any general usage is also fine.
The aim is to price business features like SSO etc but allow general users and small businesses use still (hence only more than 5 users) businesses using any other login system also fine

Grandfathering will be in as well somewhat, a 500 user system won't crash or deny users or anything if it already has those users, it just won't allow new ones. But those 500 will function same as normal

Many thanks for your reply @froodle
I am still unclear on a couple of points, so hopefully you might be able to answer these already:

... is only for named login accounts. Any third party Auth like cloudron etc completely fine! And any general usage is also fine.
The aim is to price business features like SSO...

Is Cloudron OIDC authentication considered SSO? My understanding is that this creates named accounts in StirlingPDF. Is this correct?

Grandfathering will be in as well somewhat, a 500 user system won't crash or deny users or anything if it already has those users, it just won't allow new ones. But those 500 will function same as normal

Will there be a way to centrally managed these accounts (e.g. admin console) ? Will the grandfathering 500 limit change over time as older accounts are removed ?

Hopefully this makes sense - Thanks again for your help and product!

If the account is outside of stirling-pdf it doesn't count, so if its a cloudron account, this doesn't count (it doesn't actually make an account in stirling as far as I am aware?)

Grandfathering will allow existing accounts but wont allow you to add new ones even if you were at 500 and remove 100, you cant add any since you are past the 5 limit. Yes we do have a admin dashboard etc but since most don't actually use login via stirling many don't even know!.

                Also something extra to note
                From our opt in analytics
Most of our users don't have login enabled so have never seen seen this and wont be impacted
And out of that subset 98-99% of users fall under the 5 user limit.
