    @james thanks for helping.

    I do know I can create custom profile fields, but that is not the issue.

    To illustrate I will post two images from an earlier HumHub installation that works as it shall do. In the following two pictures you will see that there are a lot of preconfigured standard profile fields (created by the fresh installation itself) available for the user, and also in the admin area for further configuration, for example to chose which profile fields to be visible in the "People" overview.

    screenshot--2025.11.06-10_27_00.png screenshot--2025.11.06-10_25_34.png

    As you can see from the below attached screenshot of this failed attempt to install a new HumHub, you will see that all those preconfigured profile fields are totally missing, all of them.

    screenshot--2025.11.06-02_15_06.png screenshot--2025.11.06-02_13_36.png

    A user can not even fill in their first and last name, because there is no place to enter them. And no place to enter other standard profile field information.

    Hope this better illustrate the problem with this new attempt at setting up a fresh HumHub, and tried on two different cloudrons on two different Digital Ocean droplets. Yes, I have tried to install the latest 1.17.4 (app version 1.8.3). Problem still there.

    What version of HumHub is this? Are any modules installed?

      @james

      The "earlier" HumHub installation was installed more than a year ago, but have been updated as new appversions has arrived, so today it is latest 1.17.4 (app version 1.8.3).

      It has modules installed, but only the standard modules that everyone can install for free. And none of them modify the standard profile fields.

      Also, a standard HumHub installation done the traditional way comes with preconfigured standard profile fields. I find it very strange and unlikely that the cloudron version of the HumHub has gotten the profile fields stripped away "by intelligent design". If so, then why?

      So something is probably wrong with the cloudronapp itself, as I have tried to install it on two different cloudrons that reside on two different DO droplets, and both show the same lack of profile fields.

      This error also created a lot of other problems, but I think it is a waste of time trying to discuss those at this stage. First I need to figure out why the installation has no preconfigured profile fields, and if that result is not intended and can be fixed in the app-packaging so the installation can be done complete, then the other errors may be fixed as well.

        Where or at which step these fields get created and why it is not present for the Cloudron app.

        Could you please check in your working HumHub installation if these profile field may be configured in a file in /app/data/config?

          @james there is no file in the app/data/config folder that contains any information related to profile fields. Are they not database entries?

            If someone could try to do a fresh demo installation of HumHub on their own server, and have a look. That could help, at least to figure out if the same problem arrive in other installations. I have tried on two different cloudrons on different DO droplets, and get the same result on both. That does not indicate that the problem is related to the cloudrons or DO-droplets themselves, so that leave it to the app (and its installation script/procedure) to be investigated. IMHO.

              Hello @stoccafisso
              I already have 2x fresh humhubs installed.
              1x OIDC version and 1x local user management version

              I am just trying to gather as many details as possible to get this sorted out asap.

                  I'll give it a shot. EDIT: Yep, something is wrong. I used this a few months ago and had tons of profile options. This one gives no options.

                  I archived that previous HumHub install, but I'll try to restore it and see how it looks different.

                  Let me add that on the very first attempt on this new install there was a brief moment after the Install page when a list of mysql db tables and info were shown and there was a yellow ! indicating a problem with the unicode encoding... but I didn't get a screen shot and subsequent installs to try to get that brief window haven't worked, it goes by to quick. This is a screenshot just before the list of db info:

                    The issue is somewhere in the first startup.
                    It tries to load the demo data but does not install any module's or loads the demo data.
                    Already on it to figure out why this is not happening.

                      Yes, I also saw the same as in this screenshot a couple of times during my many attempts at installing, and reinstalling this thing.

                      And thank you very much for helping and contributing to problem solving 🙏

                        ⚠ The following guide will delete all existing data

                        If you want a quick fix right now - after the installation, put your app into recovery mode.

                        Open the web terminal and delete all data in /app/data/*

                        rm -r /app/data/*

                        In the web terminal drop all tables from the database:

                        mysql --user=${CLOUDRON_MYSQL_USERNAME} --password=${CLOUDRON_MYSQL_PASSWORD} --host=${CLOUDRON_MYSQL_HOST} ${CLOUDRON_MYSQL_DATABASE} -Nse 'show tables' | while read table; do mysql --user=${CLOUDRON_MYSQL_USERNAME} --password=${CLOUDRON_MYSQL_PASSWORD} --host=${CLOUDRON_MYSQL_HOST} ${CLOUDRON_MYSQL_DATABASE} -e "SET FOREIGN_KEY_CHECKS = 0; drop table \`$table\`"; done

                        Edit the /app/pkg/start.sh and find this section:

                            echo "==> Finish configuration"
                            $curl http://localhost:8000/installer/config/finish
                            $curl http://localhost:8000/installer/config/finished

                        Comment out the two curl statements, it should look like this:

                            echo "==> Finish configuration"
                            # $curl http://localhost:8000/installer/config/finish
                            # $curl http://localhost:8000/installer/config/finished

                        Save and exit the file.

                        Run the start.sh manually with:

                        /app/pkg/start.sh

                        It will run once and exit, after that, run the same command again.

                        /app/pkg/start.sh

                        Now that it is running, visit your Humhub url.
                        You will see the manual setup process:

                        ae13a3df-d71e-446a-a3bc-b9b029c1a6db-image.png

                        After finishing this guided initial setup you can login with admin and changeme and will have all the demo data including the user profile fields.
                        You can turn off the recovery mode now and the app will work as intended.

                          Cool solution. You know what, my previous install was App Title and Version HumHub 1.17.2, and Package Version com.humhub.cloudronapp@1.8.1... and when I logged back in there were no Profile fields either!!! So I guess I didn't even notice!! So now I want to actually install again and see what I missed before!

                            @james fantastic, thank you. I will try that.

                            Just one question. Will this work well for later updates of the app?

                              I am trying to fix this issue without this dirty hands-on fix.
                              So, if I get this fixed, my quickfix guide is not needed.

                                Edit the /app/pkg/start.sh and find this section:

                                    echo "==> Finish configuration"
                                    $curl http://localhost:8000/installer/config/finish
                                    $curl http://localhost:8000/installer/config/finished

                                Comment out the two curl statements, it should look like this:

                                    echo "==> Finish configuration"
                                    # $curl http://localhost:8000/installer/config/finish
                                    # $curl http://localhost:8000/installer/config/finished

                                Save and exit the file.

                                Run the start.sh manually with:

                                /app/pkg/start.sh

                                It will run once and exit, after that, run the same command again.

                                /app/pkg/start.sh
