Email for pocketbase

Hello @valexico
Some apps we package with optional mail setup configuration that can be disabled in the dashboard.
This app is currently non-optional.
We started to make a difference for apps that only send transactional mail and apps that do not.
PocketBase to our knowledge only sends transactional mails, for what the Cloudron Mail server is perfect. Can you tell me why you'd like to configure a different mailer for this app specifically?
@james For 2 reason
- Because at the moment I am still waiting for the Cloudron update allowing to send mails with default configuration (I don't want to mess my working DNS configuration)
- Because for customer facing apps, I think I may have a higher delivery rate with transactional mail services (currently my mails at tagged SPAM on some users)
I think the second reason is valid. But I found a workaround : as this app have a custom domain I can configure an external SMTP for this domain. My only issue currently is the first one (which should be solved soon if I understand)

Thanks, I'll check on Monday, but my comment stay valid : I don't want the sender name to always be set back to "Pocketbase". This will not speak to the app users which expect mail sender to be the app name

Hi @joseph
- So 9.1.7 is marked "This update is a pre-release and not considered stable yet. Please update at your own risk." So I didn't update yet
- For pocketbase, I had to fork the repo. The reset of the email config on each restart is not acceptable for production.
Waiting for a packaging update of the official package

@valexico yes, of course. https://git.cloudron.io/packages/pocketbase-app/ is the repo to create the MR against. Do you have a gitlab account? We can send you an invite for our git , should I send to this forum email? Otherwise, drop me a mail at support@cloudron.io with another email account if you want to keep it private.

Hi @joseph
I juste tested on a pocketbase app with cloudron 9.1.7. Sending a test email in the admin panel gives "Test email send timeout."
Anyway
- Nobody wants the sender name to be always reseted to "Pocketbase" so the Pocketbase package need a fix
- I want to be able to set a custom SMTP per app (such app can be deployed on a different domain for example). So i think defaulting mail setting to Cloudron SMTP is a expected, but overwriting custom user config on each reboot seems a bad pattern.
I'll be glad to propose a MR on this package, it's just a one line chante (moving the mail setting in the existing "first run section" of the start.sh)
