Need help with PTR Reverse Domain setup
-
How can I get PTR Reverse Domain setup so there is no error in Cloudron?Name.com doesn't allow for PTR DNS Changes.., Can PTR DNS be done by changing the CNAME record? Thanks!
@zion Please see https://docs.cloudron.io/email/#ptr-record . PTR record is not set in your DNS provider but in your VPS provider i.e where your server is hosted not where your domain is hosted.

If I am running my own dedicated server Cloud VPS servers then is there a manual way I can set the configurations? I am using Virtualizor for VPS deployment but I didn't see an obvious way to do it there..
@zion whoever owns/provided you the IP address should be able to set it. You have to tell them to set it to
my.domain.com
. A few years ago, you usually had to email them to ask them to set it. It's only these days that this process is automated in the modern VPS providers. -

so again I control the dedicated server VPS
The PTR record is associated with the IP address. Who gave (you) the IP address for this server ? For example, if this is in a data center, then the IP address was given to you by the data center people. If server is hosted in say DigitalOcean, then IP address for the server was given to you by DigitalOcean and so on. If server is in your home, then IP address is given to you by your ISP.
In each of the above cases, you have to ask the data center or Digital Ocean or your ISP. Does that clarify? Otherwise, I need to know more what you mean by dedicated server and how it connects to the internet.

@zion
you have to ask to set it up to the company that rent you the IPv4/v6.Most likely they have an option on their control panel to do that.
If you have ownership of the IP, just do it from Virtualizor, google "Virtualizor ptr" and the first result is https://www.virtualizor.com/docs/admin/configure-reverse-dns/
--> you can do this only if you bought it and the ip is yours -
