      hey everyone,

I'm not too savvy yet and have little experience with running a server. So I have a question about RAM and memory usage in general:
Many of the Cloudron apps specify how much memory they need. For example:

      • Wordpress: minimum 256 Mb
      • Nextcloud: minimum 600 Mb
      • Collabora: minimum 1 Gb
      • LanguageTool: a whopping minimum of 3.5 Gb
      • ...

...do the apps need this much memory all the time, only when they are under load or does it depend on individual parameters per app?

I ask because I have some apps installed that have quite high demand - and when I add it all up, my server has less memory than "minimum" required. Do I need to upgrade?

if you want to USE Nextcloud and not just stare at a loading animation pump it up to 4 GB - my uses about 2.6 for just sitting around doing nothing

          Yes, at least.

I find that in practice in use they nearly always use more.

It's probably overkill, but I tend to default to manually setting the RAM to double the minimum.

          More RAM is always good.

But you don't really need more until you start regularly getting apps crashing because they ran out of memory.

I use Cloudron with Gandi & Hetzner
