ownCloud Infinite Scale, when it roles out. This sounds like it would solve the file-syncing problems I have with Nextcloud (slow, no delta sync, no selective sync).

RE: open-xchange - groupware
I just tried this out via a German email and cloud service called Mailbox and it's solid.
Address book and calendar configuration + sync are super quick and smooth; none of the address book formatting oddities or calendar glitches I've experienced in Nextcloud. File sync was equally fast and no fuss.
Web GUI has a bit of a corporate feel but it's clean with a good amount of white space.
The Mac and iOS apps work well but there's no Dropbox-like Smartsync "Local vs Online only" feature for the Mac. It has a form of selective sync but it wasn't behaving like I'm used to in Dropbox (turning off a folder still left the folder on my Mac? Maybe a bug).
Couldn't test 2FA without using my own domain.
All and all quite impressed.

RE: JMAP
@girish okay cool, thanks. Yeah JMAP is much more efficient and makes working with a lot of email on mobile devices significantly quicker. It's also meant to be easier to implement than IMAP/SMTP.
Fastmail wants to build protocols and data models on top of the core of JMAP for handling calendars and contacts sync too, replacing CardDAV, CalDAV and Websocket.
One modern open API for mail, calendars and contacts.

RE: Human Connection - social network for active citizenship
Good to see people having a go at redesigning social media. The pro & contra idea for interaction instead of comments is pretty cool. I've seen that working well on another site.

This, imo, would serve the same need as a Notion replacement, for which Anytype shows promises to become.
Wow, Anytype looks interesting.

OnlyOffice CRM
Can we use the CRM module in the OnlyOffice available on Cloudron?

@necrevistonnezr Semi-related and selfishly promoting my post here calling for a different DAV server app because SOgo isn't too great at that (has many limitations in using CalDAV and CardDAV in my experience) and Radicale while it works has stated it doesn't plan to incorporate the standard too closely, so I'd rather have a dedicated DAV server from one that wants to actually follow the specifications for those standards. Here's the post where I requested Sabre/Dav (but Baikal would be awesome too!): https://forum.cloudron.io/topic/2129/sabre-dav-caldav-and-carddav-server-alternative-to-radicale
Agreed. I find Nextcloud to be the best solution at the mo.
What I'm really looking forward to is being able to ditch CalDAV and CardDAV altogether and use JMAP.io instead.

RE: OnlyOffice CRM
@girish it's the Community Edition you'd need in order to provide their collaboration features: document management, CRM, Projects, Mail aggregator, Calendar and Wiki. They also have an optional Mail Server.
I've just installed Community Edition on DigitalOcean; it's a great alternative to Nextcloud (their collaboration apps like CRM and Projects look really great) but the big downside for me is that there's no desktop/mobile device file sync. Everything stays in the cloud, you can only edit word, presentation and spreadsheet documents and only by using their desktop app or mobile apps, and you have to be online. You can connect a bunch of file sync services like Dropbox, Google Drive, etc via authorisation keys, which is nice, but I'm looking for an alternative to Dropbox, not more dependency.
You can also connect Yandex Disk or Nextcloud accounts with a user and password but it seems a shame to have to run Nextcloud just for file sync. I tested this and working with files in Onlyoffice via this webdav link to a Nextcloud server is slow, the invisible system files created by macOS Finder are visible, and I keep getting an error when I trying uploading a file created on my desktop by my CAD software, with a note to say that "all documents uploaded will be converted to Office Open XML format for faster editing". Completely daft.
This inability to sync files between computers and devices and use third-party apps to edit them is a showstopper for us. Which is a real shame because their collaboration modules look fantastic.
Document Server + Community Server + Mail Server (optional) = Community Edition (but with the limitation of 20 simultaneous connections to doc editors)
Document Server + Community Server + Mail Server (optional) = Enterprise Edition (limitations depend on the tariff plan) -

RE: I want to run a Docker image
@will said in I want to run a Docker image:
@christiaan For managing docker stuff outside of Cloudron, checkout Portainer and Docker-Compose. Those two things will make life a lot easier. DO would be my recommend, its what I did.
I just did some Cloud training with google, and wow, their GCP stuff is pretty awesome. May be worth a look (probably more expensive than DO)Good luck!
Okay great, thanks for the recommendations on both counts. Part of the reason I recently discovered the relevance of self-hosted cloud computing was because I was trying to figure out how to avoid using G Suite (mainly because of a reflexive dislike of some of Google's practices) but I really should give their cloud computing platform more consideration because there's no doubt their technology is great.
They also have a $300 free credit offer lasting for 12 months which helps.

RE: ownCloud Infinite Scale
@nebulon okay, yes, they're calling it a Tech Preview. With any luck they'll have something ready for production this quarter.

@nebulon my mistake, I should have posted this link to 1.0.0:

RE: ownCloud Infinite Scale
One thing I’m hoping Infinite Scale will do is make it more affordable for us as a small business to run our own cloud server, by way of better efficiency and performance. Sounds like that’s on the cards.
But the competition on this front is peer-to-peer, such as Resilio and Anytype.io

RE: PTR settings incorrect after switching VPS provider
@girish thanks guys. All I currently have is a simple HTML website and Nextcloud running for calendars and contacts, so I probably don't even need to the server to send email, right? In which case I just ignore the PTR warning.

PTR settings incorrect after switching VPS provider
I switched hosting of my VPS from DigitalOcean to Google and now my PTR record is incorrect. Any tips on how to correct this?
