  • Adding new domain
    Q qimmiq

    I’m trying to add a domain hosted at namecheap.com. I already have one domain from namecheap setup on Cloudron. Using the same API, with my IP whitelisted, I get this error:

    Configuration error: Invalid response: {"$":{"Status":"OK","xmlns":"http://api.namecheap.com/xml.response"},"Errors":[""],"Warnings":[""],"RequestedCommand":["namecheap.domains.dns.gethosts"],"CommandResponse":[{"$":{"Type":"namecheap.domains.dns.getHosts"},"DomainDNSGetHostsResult":[{"$":{"Domain":"ifdogsranfree.net","EmailType":"NONE","IsUsingOurDNS":"true"}}]}],"Server":["PHX01APIEXT13"],"GMTTimeDifference":["--4:00"],"ExecutionTime":["0.143"]}}

    Any help much appreciated!

    @scooke Thanks much. I followed your steps and the email was changed. It didn't like u.activate. Said the email was already taken ... but the change was made.

    @qimmiq Maybe I should just use NodeBB instead ...

    @scooke Ahh! Thanks.

    Progress, but not success.

    root@211e24ef-c9b0-45cb-891e-2edddc692bde:/app/code# sudo -E -u cloudron bundle exec script/rails console

    Produced:

    /root is not writable.
    Bundler will use `/tmp/bundler20210702-197-1buhzyh197' as your home directory temporarily.
    Loading production environment (Rails 6.1.3.2)
    bundler: failed to load command: script/rails (script/rails)

    Then a lot of traceback, ending in:

    /usr/local/lib/ruby/2.7.0/irb/ext/save-history.rb:98:in `stat': Permission denied @ rb_file_s_stat - /root/.irb_history (Errno::EACCES)

    What next? Thanks very much.

  • Discourse: create new root email
    Q qimmiq

    Trying to change the default email for Discourse per instructions at https://docs.cloudron.io/apps/discourse/#changing-root-account-email. But when I enter the suggested command on the CLI:

    sudo -E -u cloudron bundle exec script/rails console

    I get:

    sudo: unknown user: cloudron
    sudo: unable to initialize policy plugin

    Also tried

    sudo rails console

    And got:

    sudo: rails: command not found

    It should go without saying that I don't really know what I'm doing. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

    @nebulon Vanilla then is without the LAMP stack? I didn't understand that Cloudron would install its own web server et al, I will try uninstalling Apache and the others, uninstalling Cloudron, and starting over. Thanks much!

    Thanks for your responses!

    @nebulon said in Problem with setup:

    @qimmiq did you visit the setup page via raw IP in the browser? During setup, the Cloudron will only have a self-signed cert without any domain knowledge, even if the DNS already points to that IP.

    @scooke said

    On what sort of VPS did you run the installer?

    I re-installed Ubuntu desktop and the LAMP stack -- because I had already messed with stuff -- and then reinstalled Cloudron. All seemed well. Still not getting the setup page though when I type the https://<ip>: I'm getting 'Unable to connect.' Same with Firefox and Chrome. With http://<ip> or http://<domain-name>. I get the Apache configuration page. I also have a NAS that's DSM is accessible through https <ip>: 5001. It is a secure connection. That's working fine. My router forwards ports 80 and 443 at my PC running Ubuntu.

    I'm running Ubuntu 20.04 on an older Dell PC (2013), with Intel i5-4570. Currently over wifi, until I clear some space closer to the router.

    'At this point, the Cloudron setup wizard should appear.' Installed Cloudron from the CLI but the setup wizard did not appear. My site launches from var.www.<domain.name>, not var.www.html.

    I installed Cloudron but when I went to run it, I was informed that it only ran on Ubuntu. Not Mint 20, I guess? Though I thought Mint was based on Ubuntu ... Love to see how this program works.
