  • Processing Media files and replacing for originals Ad insertion

Hi, I'm just finding my way around the Castoverse with a test install.
My idea for self hosting is to be able to take my podcast episodes cut them in to sections and re-insert ads on demand using ffmpeg and scripting. Many of my current episodes that are on Podbean have the information in their DAI system so it shouldnt be too much of a stretch. I do this with Podbean atm but I want to expand our range of shows, so a self hosted solution makes more sense.

I am not asking for a full DAI function in Castopod, though it would be nice, but wonder if regenerating the media files when there are new ads to be inserted, would present any issues, I guess the main thing is knowing the media file name (in media/public/podcasts/show/*.mp3) which I can get from querying the Database. But if the filesize changes, whether it would trigger a client download as the item in the feed would have a size change. Thanks
