Currently I’m restoring a backup (rsync via sshfs) of a Wordpress app and this is what I notice:

    • It takes seconds to backup but 10s of minutes to restore, it must be possible to make this “smarter” and don’t download files that are already there etc?
    • in the meanwhile the URL of the app shows the default error-page without a valid cert so visitors are facing a completely “broken” situation, it must be possible to show the (manually crafted) “app temporarily not available” page with a valid cert? this one was moved to https://forum.cloudron.io/topic/13364/do-not-show-error-page-when-restoring-app

For the first one, I guess you are suggesting a real rsync between the existing files and the remote. I think the issue is that rsync itself relies on a remote rsync service. Cloudron's rsync is strictly speaking not rsync, more like "individual files are synced as opposed to tarball". Even with sshfs, one cannot know for sure if there is a remote rsync service running.

The second one looks like it can be fixed . I will should split this post though
