      1. Why is the settings UI disabled ? What is the rationale?
      2. What are safe settings to utilize from the example json config on the immich site?

Anything other than a "blank" (as in "{}") results in Cloudron login being disabled...

        Very frustrating.

Is there a way to re-enable the settings UI? Or was that disabled at build time or...?

The way Immich works is, that if a config file is used, it disables the config UI. Since Cloudron needs to pre-configure (and also reconfigure) apps in the package, it uses the config file. Personally I also feel like this is not great, but it is what the upstream project has, unless this changed recently.
