Roundcube Development continues with actual features

After years with bugfix releases only, a new release 1.7.0 beta with new features has surfaced, see: https://github.com/roundcube/roundcubemail/releases/tag/1.7-beta

Thanks, I've been using SnappyMail for a while. It's mostly pretty good but also has some annoying little bugs and the developer isn't very active any more...
This seems significant:
Advanced mail search syntax with more possibilities – you can now use e.g.
is:unread
to only match unread messages. The test file has a list of implemented keywords.I also wonder if this can be leveraged by Cloudron?
Improve support for OAuth2 (e.g. supporting OpenID Connect discovery URLs).

Yes, I noticed that, too. https://github.com/the-djmaze/snappymail/issues/1911 has some background
I think a mail client is way too sensitive to not have it updated and patched regularly, if required. I since switched to sogo, at least for now, but I don’t love it (no cross-folder search, etc.).

@necrevistonnezr yeah, it's a shame that there really isn't any really good open source webmail clients even after all these years. I guess it's because one can kinda sorta make do with that options that are available, that no one with the requisite skills has had a big enough itch to scratch.
Nextcloud Mail is getting pretty decent, but at the same time there are big design issues like this that remain unaddressed for ages (it been over 3 years! wtf?!?)
https://www.mailpile.is/ looked promising too, but again just one developer who evidently doesn't really have the time to dedicate to it.

I had the mail app in Nextcloud installed for a while, but never really used it so I played around with it just now. It does have some weird glitches when moving mails and when you first click on a folder it can take quite a long time for mails to be loaded. Selecting individual mails takes longer to display them compared to Roundcube.
I think one of the main tasks for a mail client is for it to be quick and easy to use.
