Recently I have been getting this error.
    "Cannot upload the media file"

    alt text

    Anyone else having this issue?
I have restarted, backup and deleted large files to no avail.
Currently reverting to 1.18.3 to see if will fix.

    Any help greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

      Hello @seer
Are the are logs in the penpot web log viewer when you reproduce this issue?

        Thanks,

I reverted to a previous backup and it did work for awhile..

I noticed the following warning on the Logs, unsure if its related?

        # Memory overcommit must be enabled! Without it, a background save or replication may fail under low memory condition. Being disabled, it can also cause failures without low memory condition, see https://github.com/jemalloc/jemalloc/issues/1328. To fix this issue add 'vm.overcommit_memory = 1' to /etc/sysctl.conf and then reboot or run the command 'sysctl vm.overcommit_memory=1' for this to take effect.

I had auto updates switched ON and since updated to package version 1.19.0 which broke it again.

        Thanks in advance.

Weirdly, I have memory resources at max.

The last entry when I try upload a image after it fails is...

           [31/Jul/2026:11:56:50 +0000] "GET /api/rpc/command/get-profile HTTP/1.1" 200 95 "-" "Mozilla (CloudronHealth)"

Happy to share full logs privately.

For now I will refrain from updating until it stops breaking

Just fresh installed penpot latest version in a new instance and I get the exact same error when I upload/or drag and drop .jpg images.. However, It loads *.svg fine .
The last entries appear when images is uploaded and the error appears. "cannot upload the media file"

                  Thanks,
I also have this error before all the output given by @seer:

What was the issue, and the fix?

                        @scooke :
Issue: ImageMagick v6 provided and v7 required.
Missing program "magick" is because v7 has unified "magick" binary instead of multiples ("convert", "composite"...)
fix: as the v7 is not provided with Ubuntu, special install required to have v7.

As it's not my work, i may be missing some context here, so please correct me if necessary.
