Funkwhale - A modern, convivial and free music server

Very interesting - looks more like a Soundcloud alternative.
I like Soundcloud a lot - but the whole point of the Federated internet is having options to mitigate risk against deplatforming, that can happen at any time for any random reason including random accidents.
from me on this as an option.

I am 100% behind this. Right now I use Jellyfin for music which is fine, but Funkwhale would be amazing.

This is a +1
Music has always been important to me. Recently I've been studying and practicing music production, I've also been engaging a lot with the producer community. When I can I point out the importance of having your own Domain, Website, Storage solution (for backups) and last but not least Publication. To be honest one of the most relevant conversations I have had are about lost computers aka projects and therefore production...Of course we have storage & sync solutions for that but the other major factor is publication and specifically for music Funkwhale is the best "soundcloud" alternative for Independent Artists/Producers

@plusone-nick Nice. I have a repo on GitLab for my Ableton stuff if you're interested: http://gitlab.com/ableton
GitLab itself makes a good alternative to splice.com/studio too for collaboration.

@marcusquinn Nice! I use FL but will check it out! & Interesting - I was considering using Git but when I looked into it I didnt see many people doing it with it comes to DAW Project files lol so I opted with SyncThing and that has been very nice thus far. Never have to initiate any backup.
I can see the ease of collaborating/sharing projects with Git - atm I move projects from my desktop or SyncThing to Nectcloud, not a bad workflow =]
Also with the new cloudron file manager its easy to download projects -
There is now an alternative "all in one docker" image for this app
I'm not sure if this https://hub.docker.com/r/funkwhale/all-in-one fits with the cloudron best practice (1 process by container)This is an alternative Docker image you can use to deploy Funkwhale, that does not follow the "one process per container" philosophy. This one contains Postgres, Redis, Nginx and all the needed files and configuration to start a dockerized Funkwhale instance in a single container

@jdaviescoates In fact, I had actually started packaging it last week on the side.
It seems there are some funds available for those interested -https://governance.funkwhale.audio/d/QyEBOaV6/status-of-our-nlnet-funding

Would still be great to have it on here imho.

Yes, of course, that's the plan. I am confident someone will step up It's a great app, has subsonic support, federation, can setup radio station, really nice.

That was a few months ago now, did you make any progress?
Thanks!

The good news is that a new maintainer stepped up and the development has restarted.

Is there anything I can do to help get this packaged, besides fully packaging and testing myself?
Its the ONLY music app that provides legit public access to the assets... Really need this to break independent artists and incentivize them to use plusone/Cloudron
Open to sponsorship as needed

@plusone-nick if you get it started, others can jump in.

I wouldn't mind giving it a shot at some point. Really swamped this next little bit so no clue when I can get to it.
